Our Sunday worship is at 11:00. The doors are open about a half hour before the worship time so feel free to come early and get a good seat! The Lord's Supper is observed on the first Sunday of the month. Also on the first Sunday of the month from September to June is a pre-service hymn sing.
We're pretty relaxed! Just come as you are. You won't see many suits, more likely tee shirts and jeans, or sweaters and slacks, depending on the weather.
If you have children they are welcome to join us in the worship service. Children are an important part of the family of God! It is normal for small children to contribute their own blurbs, chirps and chuckles. This is not a problem, especially during the first half of the service when there is lots of activity and singing. If you feel more comfortable sending your child to the nursery or to Sunday School when the children are released to go to Sunday School, we have people who would love to care for them in a safe and secure environment.
For infant care, we have installed a Koala Care change table in our Accessible Washroom downstairs in order to provide opportunity for either spouse to attend to their child's needs.
The #46 bus originates at the Kipling Subway station and runs north on Martin Grove road. The bus proceeds up Kipling Avenue to Rathburn where it turns left and then right up Lloyd Manor Road, then left on to Princess Margaret Blvd before turning right onto Martin Grove Road. Get off the bus at the Dewitt Road stop, which is the first stop after the turn onto Martin Grove Road, then walk a few steps south to Hedges Boulevard and walk east half a block.
For those who are coming south on the #46 bus, Dewitt Road is the second stop south of Eglinton Ave. West. Corss at the stop light then walk a few steps south to Hedges Boulevard and walk east half a block.
If you are driving, we have a large parking lot on the east side of the church building. Click on the map page for directions.
The church building has three levels.
The sanctuary (the worship area) is on the upper level of the church building. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the greeters. They are there to welcome you and help you find a seat. They will give you a program for the worship service.
Sunday School is held in the East Wing, whose level is between the upper and lower levels.
The lowest level comprises a kitchen and dining area and classrooms with moveable partitions. Washrooms are on the lowest level - on the right as you come through the second set of doors. We have an accessible washroom with a Koala Care change table on the lower level.
The worship leader (usually the minister) will lead the congregation through the hymns and indicate when you can stand etc. If you want, or need, to remain seated that's just fine. Somewhere through the service there will be a collection of money to support the church programs. Don't feel pressured to make a contribution, just pass the plate along the row.
Our hymnal offers a mixture of traditional and modern hymns with the occasional contemporary piece. The Offertory music ranges from classical to contemporary. On selected Sundays (often the last Sunday in the month or a liturgically significant Sunday within the month) the church choir performs pieces that range from traditional to contemporary.
The worship service lasts from 11:00 until about noon. Afterwards we have tea and coffee (juice and water in the summer months) on the lower level of the building. Just follow the crowd. Our coffee time is a great opportunity to chat and get to know each other better. We would love to have you join us.
Don't hesitate to talk to the minister or any of the members. If you would like a visit just let us know. You could either make arrangements with the pastor on Sunday, or feel free to contact the church office by phone or email. Check the contact page for details.
ACCESSIBILITY Please note: We are in the process of upgrading our building to include an elevator. We have recently completed a wheelchair accessible washroom on the lower level. Currently, all three levels of the building are wheelchair accessible from outside the building; one must exit the building and re-enter through another doorway in order to move to another level. Wheelchairs are available upon request for use within the building.
Please see Worship During the COVID-19 Pandemic for up-to-date information on services.
